The problem of determining the height and the geodetic latitude of a satellite knowing its geocentric distance and latitude is examined. The unknowns are obtained as power series in the eccentricity of the ellipse in the meridian section through the ellipsoid. The terms of the series are Fourier sums in the geocentric latitude with polynomials in the reciprocal of the geocentric distance as coefficients. The series was adjusted in accordance with the flattening factor set at 298.25, and the computations were executed by a package of FORTRAN subroutines.
