The theory of resonant interactions between particles and MHD waves (in collision-dominated plasmas) is shown to be equivalent to the corresponding theory for waves in collisionless plasmas provided that the wave properties are described in a suitable way. Slow-mode waves (as well as fast mode waves and Alfven waves) might contribute to the scattering of cosmic rays in the interstellar medium.
