Earth Mantle: Satellite Geodesy

Scientific paper

Based on the recent postglacial rebound ICE-4G model, the authors calculated the perturbation of maximum major momentum of inertia of the Earth, ΔI33, by using the parameters of four major ice sheets on Earth, i.e. Laurentia, Fennoscandia, Antarctica, and Greenland. The mean lower mantle viscosity vLM was further estimated with ΔI33 and the constraint of the non-tidal acceleration term of the Earth rotation ω˙nt obtained with the results of modern space geodetic techniques. vLM has the order of 1022Pa s.
