Scientific paper

Systematic optical monitoring of southern quasars and BL Lac type objects has been carried out at Mount John University Observatory since 1975, and is continuing. This paper presents the results of this programme for a further 19 sources, and a preliminary analysis of the implications of these results for quasar models. Three of the sources are resolved, and a description of the method for correcting for the effect of this on the photometry is included.
