Various spectral features of Nova Cygni 1975 at early decline phase are identified and their radial velocities determined from high-dispersion spectra obtained on JD2442659. The velocities of the blue-shifted absorption and emission features for hydrogen lines are found to be different from those of the metals. The distance of the nova has been determined to be 2.2 kpc. Three distinct types of emission features are distinguished. Arguments are put forward to show that Nova Cygni 1975 is not a supernova. The possibility of a preoutburst rise according to Bath's (1969) mechanism is discussed.
