A time-independent solution of single-fluid hydrodynamics with a wave source of energy is investigated with application to the solar wind. It is shown that in the case of an extended source, difficulties arise with explanation of the experimental data on the observation of an abrupt intensification of the wind's velocity (the transition region). The difficulties are eliminated in the case of a spatially localized source, when the acceleration due to the pressure of the waves occurs in a comparatively narrow region.
