Consideration is given to the possibility of performing mass-radius calculations for Ganymede and Callisto models using the high-density ice XII discovered by Bizhigitov and Sirota (1986). It is suggested that internal melting and differentiation may have caused a 7-13 percent increase in the surface area of Ganymede and Callisto at the beginning of their histories.
