Proper-motion data for 3C273 are shown to indicate minimum distances of 200 000 to 400 000 lt yr on the basis of origin at the galactic center with relativistic speed. Proper-motion data for 3C287 give a minimum distance of 200 000 lt yr, and the rapid expansion reported by Matthews indicates a maximum distance of ~2 × 106 lt yr. Thus these (and other) quasistellar objects may have been ejected a few million years ago from the galactic center.
