All resonances in Cepheid models involving the fundamental mode and the first six overtones were inspected with an objective of identifying possible observational tests of the amplitude equation formalism and examining the effect of the opacity on the periods of the important resonances. Calculations of radial pulsation periods were carried out for three stellar model sequences chosen to give realistic periods of both Population I and Population II Cepheids, and a sequence with the recently proposed increased metal opacity is investigated. Seven tests of the hypothesis of metal opacity enhancement are considered. It is shown that models with enhanced metal opacity performs much better than standard models for the detailed description of pulsation properties of classical Cepheids.
