I will review some of the evidences (or lack thereof) for a connection between Black Hole accretion and galaxy formation through the cosmic epochs, and as a function of galaxy/AGN type, as inferred from various multiwavelength observational results. Within this context I will also review the studies on the cosmic evolution of the relationship between black hole mass and properties of the host spheroids, and discuss the relevant implications for models of AGN-galaxy co-evolution. Finally, observational evidences of AGN feedback onto the host galaxies, at low and high redshift, will also be reviewed and compared with the models expectations.
