Based on observations using a universal instrument Kern DKM3-A after the Zinger- and Pewzow method for star pair longitude and latitude measurement, it is shown that the Horrebow level bubbles in their present exposed version are less suitable for precision measurements in the free field without additional wind and temperature protection. The accuracy of inclination measurements was considerably increased by provision of a wind screen around the instrument and styrofoam casing of the level bubble.
