Twenty-four arcminutes of the sky around Vesta is investigated for the presence of satellites. The Megacam wide-field imager was used with the 6.5-meter MMT telescope to collect 5.5 hours of observations during the nights of January 4-6, 2006. Images covering the Hill sphere of Vesta were taken in the r’ filter. We will present our current magnitude limits for the search and discuss our initial results.
The MMT Observatory is jointly owned by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and the University of Arizona.
