In the present paper, Poliakov and Khazanov's (1976) mathematical model of a photoelectron is used as a basis for calculating the effect of Auger electrons in the formation of photoelectron spectra and in some microprocesses occurring in the upper atmosphere. The initial data on solar X-rays and solar UV radiation are taken for wavelengths greater and smaller than 31 A. Equilibrium differential spectra of photoelectron intensity at various latitudes, obtained with and without allowance for Auger electrons, are compared.
