An analysis has been made of the two-component structure of 10 early-type galaxies for which isophote shape parameters were given in Michard and Simien (1988). Methods are presented that are specifically adapted to the case of a thin, inclined disk superposed on an axisymmetric bulge with variable flattening, a model which fits the observations well, and which is likely to be a reasonable first-order approximation. The analysis supplements the morphological evidence in suggesting two typical structural configurations among these objects. In the first one, the bulge ellipticity first increases with distance and then decreases by roughly the same amount, while the disk has a limited radial extent; in the second one, the bulge ellipticity regularly increases, with only evidence for a much lesser (if any) subsequent decrease, while the disk extends much farther out. 'Disky' elliptical galaxies seem to belong to the first type.
