A model which simulates the chemical evolution of a dwarf irregular galaxy has been constructed. The history of star formation is assumed to be a series of strong star formation bursts separated by long interburst periods. Two factors may influence the chemical evolution; the self-enrichment of giant H II regions and the possibility of a galactic wind due to supernovae. The computed chemical evolution of the galaxy is compared with the observational data. It was found that only the N/O, O/H diagram can be reproduced by a closed box model of chemical evolution of galaxies in which the self- enrichment of giant H II regions associated with strong star formation bursts is taken into account. A model taking into account both the self- enrichment of giant H II regions and galactic winds can reproduce not only the general observed trends but also the scatters in various correlation diagrams.
