Photometric and spectral observations of the emission star HD 51585 = OY Gem with IR excess are reported. The emission lines of H I, He I, forbidden O I, forbidden O III, forbidden Fe II, and Fe II are present in the star's spectrum. The spectral energy distribution shows the presence of three radiative sources: the star (28,000 K), the hot dust (1100 K), and the cold dust (180 K). HD 51585 is classified as a post-AGB object about 2300 years old and, according to the classification of van der Veen et al. (1989), it belongs to the type IVb.
