A technique is described whereby power series solutions may be expanded to sets of equations that can be treated formally by a compiler type program. A program suitable for an algebra system is generated that can produce the power series expansions by recurrence relations. Examples are given from celestial mechanics, including the Kepler equation and elliptic expansions, Delaunay's lunar disturbing function, and the Hill equation.
