Abell 496 shows a central abundance enhancement due to an excess of supernovae Type I ejecta. The mechanisms that create this SN I material are not clear. Ram-pressure stripping and normal stellar mass loss are the two competing mechanisms for generating this SN I excess. We propose to observe the abundance gradient cluster A496 for 20 kseconds (ACIS-I) with the objective of discriminating between these two mechanisms for the contamination of the intracluster gas and determine the spatial extent of the gradient.
