NGC4631, a nearby edge-on galaxy at a high Galactic latitude, is an ideal site for studying hot galactic-halo gas and its interplay with various other galactic components (e.g., magnetic field and extended warm gas features) involved in disk/halo interaction. We propose an AXAF ACIS observation to obtain spatially-resolved spectroscopic data. Complemented by our extensive multiwavelength database on the galaxy, the data will enable us to study the structure, ionization status, and energy balance of the hot gas as well as its role in disk/halo interaction.
