Prognoz 7 results dealing with investigation of medium scale (from hours to days) variations of heavy ions in the low and middle speed solar wind streams on the basis of ion energy spectrum measurements and flow parameters of protons and alpha particles using the systematic selective measurements are summarized. The variations in the abundances and charge states of various ions observed continuously during several two to three day intervals are used to evaluate the variability of helical composition and electron temperature in the solar corona. Particularly, it is shown that several dependences of average abundance of heavy ions He, O, Si and Fe relative to protons and ones relative to oxygen are different at the same conditions. The heavy ion abundance depends on types of solar wind streams which may be connected with solar corona structure and phenomena.
