New long-slit CCD spectrum and H-alpha imaging of the nebula MA 1 in M33, one of McCall's four 'Rosetta Stone' extragalactic H II regions, are presented. The H-alpha image shows MA 1 to be a complex of arcs, loops, and filaments with a diameter of about 45 arcsec. The spatial profile of the spectral emission line shows that forbidden O II is quite weak near the central stellar object but becomes more nearly normal in strength in the outer parts of the nebula. The integrated line intensities are consistent with those observed in relatively metal-poor H II regions in dwarf galaxies. A tentative detection of forbidden O III 4363 A yields a rough estimate of T(e) = 14,000 K, indicating the MA 1 has an oxygen abundance of about one-tenth the solar value. This makes MA 1 one of the most oxygen-poor H II regions known within a spiral galaxy.
