An exponential atmospheric model is used to obtain an analytical solution to the equation for the three-dimensional diffusion of a gas injected at altitudes of 200-300 km. An effective method is proposed for determining the spatial distribution of gas particles by extrapolating the solutions of one-dimensional equations. The analysis has relevance to emissions of H2, H2O, and CO2 from spacecraft at ionospheric altitudes.
