Dual-frequency VLA polarimetric observations of the radio galaxies 3C 79 and 3C 379.1 show remarkably small Faraday rotation gradients across most or all of both sources. The measured rms difference between the 6 and 20 cm polarization position angles is as low as 2° for portions of 3C 379.1. These measurements are used to place limits on internal Faraday rotation and thus on the thermal plasma density in the radio-emitting lobes. The upper limits to the thermal density are ≡4×10-5cm-3 for both 3C 79 and 3C 379.1.
