OH 18 cm observations of molecular clouds in a section of the Perseus spiral arm are reported. Approximately 160 square degrees were searched with the 25 m Dwingeloo telescope, and five Perseus arm clouds were detected. These were studied in more detail with the 100 m Effelsberg telescope. Secondly, OH observations were made in the direction of a number of clouds, detected during a CO survey of the Perseus arm by Cong (but not found in Dwingeloo). OH was detected in 24 clouds, including the five mapped clouds. The data suggest a relation between cloud mass and radial velocity, the most massive clouds having a more negative velocity. This is explained by an existing density wave model for this part of the Perseus arm. The properties and distribution of the clouds are compared with those of other spiral arm tracers.
