The hardware structure of star tracker in Chinese Interferometer has been determined. But its software structure, tracking mode, has not been determined. In this paper, a new tracking mode was given in order to meet the need in precision (0″2). The new tracking mode includes two main processes, the seeking process and the tracking process. If controller does not find or losts target, the star tracker will be working in seeking process. Seeking means pacing with changeable pace. If controller has found target, star tracker will be working in tracking process. The simulation results show that one can meet the need in precision under normal condition.
