A map of the NGC 6334 region is constructed in the 1667-MHz OH line in both circular polarizations and in the 1665-MHz line in the left circular polarization, and right ascension scans are made through the center of the source in the 1612 and 1720-MHz satellite lines. A narrow spectral feature at a radial velocity of 5.5 km/sec is found to have a uniform optical depth across the source and appears in a large diffuse cloud situated between the sun and the source. A deeper and wider feature at a radial velocity of -4 km/sec (the radial velocity of the source continuum) is found in 2 or 3 compact OH clouds 1 or 2 pc in extent. Two centers of OH maser emission, NGC 6334 N and S, are located inside clouds with a high total hydrogen density (possibly in molecular form), which is typical for dense dust clouds. Absorption in the 1720-MHz satellite line is found to be greater than expected by a factor of 2, while absorption in the 1612-MHz line is detected only in cloud 3, which surrounds the NGC6334 S maser source.
