One model for the production of GRBs are relativistic jets produced in collapsars. These jets must penetrate the dense medium of their collapsar progenitor and break through its atmosphere in order to produce a GRB. We present a study of previously published relativistic jet simulations. We analyze the shocks in the head of the jet before and after breakout from the atmosphere, and address the issue of jet stability and velocity fluctuation behind the bow shock before the jet emerges from the atmosphere of the collapsar progenitor.
