The very bright gamma-ray burst GRB011121 was observed by DMSP13 and DMSP14, as well as by other spacecraft (GCN1147). It has been associated with an afterglow having a redshift of z=0.36 (GCN1152). The single broad peak observed by the DMSP spacecraft was about 30s long and extended over the gamma-ray energy range 50-1000 keV. The high-time-resolution record triggered in DMSP14 covered 13.1s of data. Fourier analysis of this record gives good evidence of a 1.7s oscillation up to very high energies. This is similar to the frequencies associated with rotating neutron stars and soft gamma repeaters. Thus there may be more similarity between this GRB and SGR outbursts (from SGR0525-66 and SGR1900+14) than is widely believed.
