The acceleration of charged particles (cosmic rays) in the hyperbolic magnetic and uniform electric fields arising during the decay of a neutral current sheet is examined. It is shown that the acceleration process consists of a direct acceleration by the electric field in the nonadiabatic region near the zero line and a betratron acceleration in the drift region. The characteristic energy of charged particles is determined in the nonrelativistic and ultrarelativistic limits. It is found that the energetic spectra have an exponential form in the high-energy range.
