The semileptonic decay and lifetime of flavored hadrons can be used to select jets originating from b quarks. In the first case, the large mass of the b quark results in leptons with relatively large transverse momentum with respect to the jet axis. In the second case, a tag need not necessarily be done by reconstruction of secondary vertices, but can also be achieved using the impact parameters of tracks originating from flavored hadron decays. With the new Silicon Microstrip Tracker and the Central Fiber Tracker, the upgraded D0 detector has the high resolution tracking necessary to deploy such lifetime methods. The prospects of tagging b jets at D0 are discussed and first results from the data will be shown depending on the performance of the Tevatron and the D0 detector.
