The surface lithium and beryllium depletions have been calculated on the basis of Xiong's (1986) nonlocal convection theory for three models of the solar convective envelope with different convective parameters c1 and c2. The results of numerical calculations show that the surface beryllium has no significant depletion, but the surface lithium is depleted too quickly for the model consistent with the helioseismologic data. This means that the depth of the convective overshooting zone is overestimated. A reasonable explanation may be that there is a magnetic field of about 10 exp 3 - 10 exp 4 gauss in the lower convection zone. The magnetic field will brake extensive convective overshooting. Therefore, the surface lithium depletion will slow down. The other evidences of magnetic field in the lower convection zone of the sun are discussed.
