The associative detachment process H + H(-) yields H2(v, j) yields e(-) and the inverse reaction H2(v, j) + e(-), which leads to rovibrational excitation (H2(v prime, j prime) + e(-)) and dissocative attachment (H + H-), were calculated consistently using the resonant scattering theory and detailed balance formulas. The evolution of the transient H2(-) molecular complex is governed by a local complex potential, obtained by combining the best short- and long-range potentials available in the literature. Cross sections and reaction rates for many energies in the temperature range of astrophysical interest are given in tabular and graphic forms.
