One-dimensional interferometric observations are reported of the well-known spectroscopic binary Aurigae. Despite the lack of phase information in the visibility data, direct measurements are generated of the apparent angular diameter of the secondary GO-III component by fitting the data with overall models available for Capella. The adopted approach combines the intrinsic field-of-view limitations of an interferometer together with the data reduction algorithm, in order to extract at the longer baseline the highest contribution to the fringe contrast due to secondary component alone. A limb-darkened mas is found with a major source of error coming from the measured intensity ratio between the components in the K-band. The measurement appears to be in fairly good agreement with model-atmosphere results, allowing the empirical calibration of color indices to be extended over the field of G-giants.
