The influence is examined of the angular resolution of an instrument on the emission signature of the CO line from a contracting envelope, and predicted emission maps are given. The asymmetric line-wing profile noted by Anglada et al. (1987) is described in terms of its power-law dependence, radial velocity, and strong blue wing. Current mm interferometric observations are considered since they can be only partially resolved and since the resolution can affect the observed line profile. The intensity of the blueshifted emission can be biased and sharply increasing toward the center of the map when the observations are made with angular resolutions of less than about 1 arcsec. The intensity of the redshifted emission, however, generally appears constant over the emitting region. Other characteristics of the contracting protostellar fragments are confirmed for CO interferometric observations of about 5 arcsec.
