X-ray Flashes (XRFs) form a new class of x-ray transients. They are a subset of Fast X-ray Transients (FXTs) having a duration of order minutes, much shorter than FXTs with coronal identifications. XRFs have x-ray properties similar to the x-ray counterparts of gamma ray bursts (GRBs), but are not detected above 100 keV. They may be a new type of cosmic explosion with mildly relativistic expansion or they may be more distant (redshifted) GRBs. We will discuss the latest developments and identifications of XRFs discovered with the Wide Field Camera on BeppoSAX. Assuming they are similar to GRBs, we use the properties of XRFs (e.g., the log N-log P relation) and compare these to global properties of GRBs. The results significantly constrain the density distribution as a function of redshift and the intrinsic luminosity distribution.
