I will discuss the near-ubiquity of relativistic outflows, or jets, from
accreting stellar mass black holes in `hard' X-ray states, as inferred
from observations of radio and higher-frequency synchrotron emission.
The focus of the review will be on the energetic significance of the
jet, and its coupling to the properties of the accretion disc.
