Discovery circumstances and follow up observations of the Pyxid meteor
stream are described. The high activity of 1979 (year of discovery) has
not been re-observed, but a slight resurgence in activity in 1989 may
have occured. Pyxid meteors are characteristically fast and white with
little tendency to leave trains.
