Cosmic Rays, Interstellar Medium And Nebulae In Milky Way, Supernovae

Scientific paper

We have constructed a Monte Carlo Simulation program for the space and time dependent distribution of Galactic supernovae, as a source of both shock energy and particles for cosmic ray acceleration, based on recent astronomical observations and theory. From these simulated spatial and temporal distributions of discrete sources, we then determine the form and variance of the expected local cosmic ray path length distributions, together with anisotropies and local intensity histories, for a wide range of effective mean free paths. .
