Observational findings that demonstrate the presence of magnetic fields
in spiral galaxies are discussed. Observations of interstellar magnetic
fields and of magnetic fields in the Galaxy, in nearby galaxies, and in
galactic halos are addressed. The gigantic dynamos which may produce
these fields are considered.
