Scientific paper

A smoothed-discontinuity type singularity in the potential of the effective scalar field controlling the de Sitter (inflationary) stage in the early universe is considered. It is shown that this singularity leads to the appearance of a step of universal type with imposed modulations in the spectrum of the adiabatic perturbations, whereas a singularity of smooth potential-jump type leads to a hillock in the spectrum.
