Several objections to the hypothesis of relativistic beaming of pulsar emission are rejected as invalid. Considerations are outlined for the objection that relativistic beaming models violate the condition that the electromagnetic energy of the source must be less than the magnetic field energy if the field is to be stable, and they are shown to be valid for only one pulsar. The assumption that such models are unacceptable because some pulse profiles remain constant when spectra deviate from the power law is analyzed, and it is shown that in some pulsars with non-power-law spectra, the same pulse duration over a wide frequency range may be associated with longitudinally large emitting sources or with sources located at various distances from the axis of rotation of the neutron star.
