The near-infrared observations of a complete hard X-ray selected sample of AGN, mainly optically classified as Seyfert 1s are analyzed. The derived nonstellar/stellar fractions are used to subtract the stellar contribution in small nuclear apertures. The evidence for the presence of an underlying nonthermal power law, modified by dust reddening, as the origin of the nonstellar near-infrared component is examined. A correlation is found between the hard X-ray and near infrared luminosities.
