The broad-line H-beta profile is studied for all of the quasars and
Seyfert galaxies in the Palomar Bright Quasar Survey (Schmidt and Green,
1983) in order to determine the broad-line characteristics of AGNs. A
classification scheme for broad-line H-beta is proposed and is used to
study the range of line shifts and line asymmetries.
