Observations of 20 optically selected quasars with redshifts in the 2-2.7 range have been obtained with a spectral resolution of 7 A. The FWHM width of C IV is found to be centered at 5000 km/s. For the case of three of the four quasars with the narrowest C IV lines, the emission feature at 1909 A is resolved into the two lines, semiforbidden Si III 1892-A and semiforbidden C III 1909-A, suggesting that in many cases the Fe III UV 34 triplet is not a dominant contributor to this feature. In the quasar 0353-38, the C IV line is shown to be narrower than the forbidden N III 1750-A line. Four low ionization absorption line systems with z from 0.55-1.28 have been observed.
