The age of gravitational wave astronomy has begun with the commissioning of the first large-scale ground based detectors. Planning for the first generation of space based detectors is well underway, with the LISA detector schedule to launch in 2011. Following a brief review of the LISA mission, I will describe our efforts to model the observatory collecting data for one year. The simulation takes into account the amplitude, frequency and phase modulation of the gravitational wave signal due to LISA's motion about the Sun, and includes a realistic model of the instrument noise. Using this simulation we have been able to test and refine a range of data analysis strategies, and establish some preliminary estimates for how well LISA can measure source positions and orbital parameters.
