An analytical investigation of the relationship between the separation of two identical interacting spherical galaxies and their (parabolic) escape velocity is presented. The polytropic-superposition model of galactic potential-energy interaction of Alladin (1965) is employed. An expression is derived which relates the escape velocity (expressed in terms of the rms internal speed of the galaxy) and the separation (expressed in terms of the mean radius), and which is independent of the density distribution(expressed by the polytrope index n). This finding is compared to the results obtained using other models at different values of n.
