The instability of an inhomogeneous arbitrary beta plasma occurring due to the transverse velocity shear has been studied to analyse the effects of collisional transfer. The dissipation of hydromagnetic waves in such a plasma has also been discussed. It has been found that the thermal forces modify the instability criteria in several limiting cases. Numerical solutions have also been obtained to investigate the effects of various physical parameters for a non-isothermal plasma with different adiabaticity of two species, electrons and ions.
