Optical spectra are presented for both members of the pair of interacting galaxies UGC 10683, lying close to the HEAO-A1 satellite's unidentified, high-altitude X-ray source 1H 1703-01. It is determined that one galaxy of the pair, UGC 10683B, is of Seyfert Type I, and it is suggested that it may be related to the X-ray source. Higher-resolution X-ray observations are deemed necessary to determine whether there is an identity between UGC 10683B and 1H 1703-01.
