The applicability of a modified semi-empirical formula with Gaunt factors for the evaluation of Stark line widths of alkali-like ions is investigated. Measured and calculated line widths for the resonance lines of the ions are presented and compared, showing good agreement. It is concluded that the formula derived from the comparison data on light elements can be used for the evaluation of Stark line widths of heavy alkali-like ions and line widths of multiple ionized atoms.
