As the first result of an astrometric program of southern radiosources, optical positions of 10 quasars between -75 deg and -25 deg declination are given. They have been derived using different telescopes. The sources were measured on film copies of the ESO (B) Schmidt Survey. Each source has two independent positions, one referred to the Perth 70 Catalog, the other to the PPM South Catalog, preliminary version. The positions were reduced through an auxiliary secondary reference frame of stars of intermediate brightness (12-14 mV), obtained in 1988 from an astrograph. All objects were scanned with a PDS microdensitometer, their centers determined by a Gaussian fit to the marginal distributions of the density arrays. The mean internal error of the film reductions is 0.23 arcsec when using the Perth 70 stars, and 0.21 arcsec when using the PPM Catalog. The radio and optical positions on the average agreed to the tenth of an arcsecond.
